Manitou opens new loading centre in France
04 July 2023
Manitou Group has anounced a new loading dock facility dedicated to the final inspection of its machines.
The faclility is for equipment produced at its central Ancenis plant, which incorporates 1,300 square metres of solar panel roof covering and employs almost 30 people, where more than 50 machines are shipped worldwide every day.
Part of a wide-ranging project to redevelop the manufacturer’s French industrial sites, with the aim of the new facility is to improve working conditions for employees and service providers, in the interests of performance.
The Ancenis site’s loading docks now occupy an area 2,500 square metres and is equipped with eight secure docks, and will cater for the Group’s strong business growth and the resulting increase in the flow of trucks being loaded with machines.
Work on the building began in the first quarter of 2022 and was completed less than a year later. With a budget of €3.7 million, the group has modernized loading and unloading operations for carriers.
David Bechemilh, Manitou Group transport and customs manager, explained, “We have redesigned our flow management to improve safety on a site where pedestrians, forklift drivers and trucks cross paths. These new facilities give us a more defined perimeter, so that the different flows no longer intersect. Local logistics teams have also equipped the docks with reinforced security systems.”
