Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers is to acquire AssetNation, a US-based online auctioneer specialising in the sale of surplus and salvaged assets. Ritchie said the acquisition would enable it to offer new, non-auction services to its customers.

Hertz boosts TV/film rentals with Cinelease acquisition
Hertz has acquired Cinelease, a film and TV rental specialist, for an undisclosed price from private equity company Audax. Hertz said the deal would add around US$50 million in revenues to its equipment rental operations in 2012.
Boels makes three more acquisitions
Boels Rental said it has acquired three other rental companies at the start of 2012 to add to the acquisition of Germany’s Baurent at the end of last year. Boels said its growth strategy would see it expand in eastern Europe and look for opportunities to enter Italy, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland.
Sweden's TLM bought by Ramirent
Ramirent has acquired Swedish rental company TLM (Tannefors Lift- och Maskinuthyrning). TLM is located in the Östergötland region and has annual sales of €8.8 million and three branches.
United Rentals to acquire RSC
United Rentals is to acquire RSC Equipment Rental in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at US$18 per share, or a total enterprise value of $4.2 billion, including $2.3 billion of net debt. It is the largest acquistion ever in the equipment rental market.
