Volvo Rents has added another Californian rental company to its list of recent acquisitions, buying Rental Solutions, a three-branch operation with stores in Napa Valley, Santa Rosa, and Cloverdale.

Hertz Equipment Rental Corp (HERC) has acquired Arpielle Equipment Co in New York City, its fifth acquisition in the last 12 months. HERC said it expected the deal to add US$25 million in revenues in its first year with Hertz.

New Zealand general equipment rental company, Hirepool Limited, has bought New Zealand Access Hire from New Zealand Crane Group in order to increase its access equipment fleet.

Hertz has acquired Cinelease, a film and TV rental specialist, for an undisclosed price from private equity company Audax. Hertz said the deal would add around US$50 million in revenues to its equipment rental operations in 2012.

Boels Rental said it has acquired three other rental companies at the start of 2012 to add to the acquisition of Germany’s Baurent at the end of last year. Boels said its growth strategy would see it expand in eastern Europe and look for opportunities to enter Italy, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland.

Ramirent has acquired Swedish rental company TLM (Tannefors Lift- och Maskinuthyrning). TLM is located in the Östergötland region and has annual sales of €8.8 million and three branches.

United Rentals is to acquire RSC Equipment Rental in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at US$18 per share, or a total enterprise value of $4.2 billion, including $2.3 billion of net debt. It is the largest acquistion ever in the equipment rental market.
