€28m fleet investment for Nordic renter

By Belinda Smart03 February 2023

Nordic rental company Cramo is set to grow its fleet in Norway by 25% with an investment of NOK 300 million (€28 million) in new equipment this year.

A press release from Cramo Norway confirmed the sum brings the company’s total fleet investment to NOK 800 million (€75 million) since 2020.

The investment includes construction machines, lifts, site accommodation, light towers and containers and heating, suitable for rental to major contractors and small companies in the market. Cramo is headquartered in Finland and owned by Netherlands based Boels Rental.

“Good availability of new and modern equipment is crucial for us to achieve our goals in Norway,” Cramo’s Managing Director - Norway, Thomas Astrup said in the release.

It is understood that as well as supporting Cramo growth plans in Norway, the investment will also underpin its carbon reduction and digital transformation strategy.

“With this investment, we are increasing the equipment fleet by around 25 per cent,” said Astrup. “The equipment is upgraded both with regard to technology, operational safety and comfort - but also with regard to energy saving.

“One example is that we replace machines that run on mains power with machines that can be operated on batteries. We are also phasing out more of our fossil fuel-powered equipment in favour of greener solutions.”

Cramo’s plan includes the creation of a digital, connected fleet for the Norway market, Astrup said.

“This is about adapting the equipment to everything from access control and sharing on construction sites, to emission data and monitoring.

“Digitally adapted equipment is the future because it provides better operating economics and an easier everyday life for users.”
