Tracked platform specialist CMC has launched a new range of insulated platforms, starting with the introduction of its new i23 spider lift.

Suitable for power line maintenance, electrical system installations and other general industrial applications, the i23 is electrically insulated up to 46kV with a working height of 22.8m and a 10m maximum outreach.

Equipped with a 180kg capacity fiberglass basket, the model is the first of the manufacturer’s new ‘i’ series equipment line, which is described by Italy-based CMC as representing a “new era” for its access equipment range.

The i23 was developed to provide “maximum security while manoeuvring” and reduce the risk of electrocution when working on electrical applications.

CMC said the latest IPAF Security Global Report identified electrocution as being the second most common cause of fatal accidents for MEWP users.

“We do not usually talk about safety because we consider it an indispensable requirement for our platforms”, said Alessandro Mastrogiacomo, Sales Director of CMC. “With the i23, however, we really did our best to give an innovative answer to a specific safety request of many users”.
