PASMA partners for safety resources

24 April 2020

Mobile tower and podium association PASMA has partnered with other organisations offer their members exclusive access to a library of PASMA resources for updating their tower knowledge and sharing good practice. There will also be free tool box talks, published throughout next week.

Under the scheme, PASMA’s newly-launched Safety Practitioner Zone has partnered with the Association for Project Safety, British Safety Council, IIRSM and RoSPA to provide toolbox talks, tower reference guides, bitesize safety videos and details of upcoming changes to EN 1004, the design standard for mobile access towers.

In the lead-up to launch on 1 May, PASMA is releasing a series of toolbox talks on social media, freely available to anyone who wants them. These one-page documents contain the content needed to deliver a safety briefing on five tower-related topics, reinforcing key messages that are taught on PASMA training courses:

They will be released at 11:00 BST each day the week commencing Monday, 27 April on PASMA’s Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Each one will be available for just 24 hours. After which, they, along with other material, will be available in the Safety Practitioner Zone:

  • Monday: Never stand on an unprotected platform
  • Tuesday: Using scaffold towers in windy conditions
  • Wednesday: How to safely move a mobile access tower
  • Thursday: No instruction manual means no scaffold tower
  • Friday: Inspecting scaffold towers

Commenting on the launch of Safety Practitioner Zone, Jason Carlton, head of strategic engagement at PASMA, said, “With their leading role in promoting height safety to industry and our shared motivation to keep scaffold tower users safe, safety professionals are key allies of PASMA.

“They already ensure anyone working with towers is PASMA trained, and now, with the launch of our new Safety Practitioner Zone, they have the tools to continually reinforce the key messages themselves and remind workers to keep up the good habits they learned on their course.

“We’re delighted to have partnered with leading safety associations on this because we know their members are dedicated to promoting good practice and preventing falls from height. These new resources make this easier than ever for them to achieve.”
