AC SCISSORS

07 May 2008

The big selling point on the two new Aichi electric scissors – the 6.1 m platform height SV06CNL and 7.77 m SV08CNL – is an AC drive system that, claims Aichi, dramatically increases duty cycles.

Theo Plicta, Aichi's sales manager in Europe, tells AI that the machines may well be capable of working a standard week on a single charge. The use of the AC motors also means that there are no motor brushes to replace, reducing service requirements.

Mr Plicta says the pothole protection system when retracted is placed above the base frame, making it less susceptible to damage when it is lifted by a forklift. A pull-out tray gives easy access to the main components. The cage extension is 1.0 m, where 0.9 m is standard on many other machines.
