The use of powered access is growing in China, as evidenced by this Genie machine at work. There is therefore a growing need for safety training. The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has held talks with Chinese government authorities about operator training and safety issues concerning aerial platforms in the country. Tim Whiteman, IPAF managing director, met officials at the Beijing Institute of Construction Mechanisation and the China Engineering Machinery Industry Association in November and outlined IPAF's operator training scheme and also discussed other issues affecting aerials such as ISO standards. See IPAF news for further details.
