A new safety harness, developed by Checkmate UK Ltd in conjunction with industrial injuries specialist Dr John Leigh (left), is now available from Certex UK Ltd. Dr Leigh believes that that many harnesses are not worn because they are difficult to put on, or are uncomfortable to wear. The new 'Professional' range is more like an ordinary jacket, with additional material integrated into the design, with the added benefit of making the harness harder to put on incorrectly. An extra strap acts as a seat, relieving pressure on the leg loops, and anterior chest and abdominal straps prevent the vertical restraining straps from separating but in the event of a fall, stop the torso from pitching forward out of the harness.
