Our cover shot this month shows a Camac EPM-1500/150 passenger/materials hoist working on the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona, Spain. The 1500 kg hoist has a maximum lifting speed of 30 m/min and can carry up to 14 passengers. Work on the cathedral, which was designed by Antoni Gaudi, started in 1882 and continues to this day. The Spanish hoist and mast climber market is currently one of the busiest in the world, although manufacturers are preparing for a slowdown in demand. These preparations are primarily the development of lightweight mast climbers which better suit the scale and economics of repair and renovation projects, rather than new construction.
