All new from Terex

Terex's 1500 m2 outdoor stand will include more than 20 pieces of equipment, 14 of which will be new or improved models.

New in the earthmoving sector is the TA300 Generation 9 ADT, which is part of a new Stage IIIB compliant range spanning 25 to 38 tonnes payload. As well as improved performance from the new engine, the TA300 features independent front suspension which provides a smooth ride at higher speeds.

In the compact sector will be the new TC16 Twin Drive mini excavator, which has an electric drive alongside the diesel engine, making it suitable for indoor work and applications in other areas where exhaust fumes would be an issue.

Also new is Terex's first ever micro excavator, the 1 tonne, TC10, which is being manufactured on its behalf by Italian company Sampierana, which also makes machines under the Eurocomach brand. Other models to be supplied under this agreement will include the 1.5 tonne TC15 and 1.9 tonne TC19.

The model on show at Intermat, the TC10 features a 7.6 kW engine and offers a digging depth of 1.62 m.

Cranes

A new self erecting tower crane will be a highlight of the cranes. The yet to be named model will have a lifting capacity of 6 tonnes at 13.3 m and 1.4 tonnes at its maximum jib length of 45 m. Other details are not yet available, but the model will be at the show.

The manufacturer will also display its 160 tonne metre rated Challenger 3160 all terrain crane. It can lift 32.5 tonnes at 5 m radius. "This new machine combines the company's latest roadability innovations with the only 50 m single cylinder telescopic boom currently available on three axles," said a company spokesman.

It is capable of performing lifts of up to 35.6 tonnes at 4m radius within 12 tonne axle loadings. Within country-specific 10 tone axle load requirements, the crane can use its counterweight self- (de-) rigging system for a total vehicle weight of less than 30 tonnes.

Equipped to avoid the need for people to work at height, the boom can be tilted 5 degrees below horizontal for easy and fast assembly of the variable assembly jib or re-reeving of the hook block safely from the ground, said the company. The three-sheave VarioHook system, with 18 mm rope (6 tonne single line pull), shortens rigging time, reduces weight of equipment transported and saves time and money on the job and on the road.

The latest 100 tonne capacity addition to the range, the Roadmaster 5300 truck mounted crane, will also be shown. It uses a commercial 5-axle truck carrier and has two main boom options with 59.4 m or 50 m boom length, and a maximum system length of 81.7 or 77 m, respectively. Designed as a taxi crane, it offers a lifting capacity of 7 tonnes at 20 m radius with a fully extended boom and 9.1 tonne counterweight, supported by Its X-type outrigger system.

Terex AWP

Terex AWP was keeping back details of its new launches, although did say that it plans to update several of its booms and scissors. One of its electric scissor models - IRN understands that it is the GS-3246, although Terex wasn't saying - will get a beefed up battery system. In addition, the important Z-45 articulated boom is getting some attention, with improvements to its power system. Also on show will be the recently introduced GS-4047 electric scissor.

The company will also show two new telehandlers, one rotating design and one conventional fixed boom style. The roto-type will offer a new combination of reach and lifting capacity, while the other newcomer is a fixed boom version of an existing Terex roto handler.

Crushing & screening

Powerscreen will be showing off two of its largest machines on its stand at the show - the XH500 impact crusher and the Warrior 2400 mobile screen. The former has been designed for processing large volumes (up to 500 tonnes per hour) of soft to medium-hard primary materials such as natural rock and construction derived materials including asphalt, recycling and demolition waste. The 2400 is Powerscreen's largest Warrior mobile screen to date, with a capacity of up to 800 tonnes per hour. It can be used for scalping, two or three way splitting or stockpiling materials such as aggregate, topsoil, coal, construction and demolition waste and iron ore.
