Avon Access put its recently-acquired Omme 3700 RJ tracked platform to work to carry out inspection and repair work to Evesham Abbey Bell Tower in Worcestershire.

The Churches Conservation Trust commissioned Avon Access to carry out the work, which reached heights of 33 m. Access to the Grade II listed building was via a narrow gate and through the soft ground of the graveyard, and the job site was above the ancient crypt, which meant weight and ground pressure was also an issue, so a tracked platform was the ideal solution, said the company.

The Omme Lift 3700 RJ is a 37 m compact, telescopic lift mounted on a fast-moving crawler chassis. It provides outreach of up to 14 m and precise final positioning thanks to a 130° fly-jib and 180° platform rotation, said the company. It has a safe working load of 250 kg, sufficient for two people with tools.

Founded in 2000, Avon Access specialises in tracked platforms. The company now provides a nationwide service from its depots in Bristol and Cardiff, UK.
