Briggs ups its fleet with telehandler, aerials purchases

By Lindsey Anderson26 January 2011

Dallas-based rental company Briggs Equipment has expanded its fleet by several hundred pieces of equipment, pushing its total number of units to more than 4,200, the company says.

According to the company, the goal of the fleet expansion is to meet customer demand, allow for expansion into markets not currently served and to replace older units, "which ensures the fleet remains within performance guidelines."

"We have been encouraged by the increased activity in many of the industries that we currently provide rental equipment to, especially the convention services business, which is steadily rebounding after a tough couple of years," said Mike Alberse, national asset manager of Briggs Equipment. "Additionally, we are looking to enhance the age of our rental fleet while continuing to offer a diverse supply of well-maintained, low-hour equipment."

Anticipating growth in the market, Briggs strategically bought equipment in three major categories - aerial booms, industrial forklifts and telehandlers. According to Alberse adding bench strength in these categories allows Briggs to continue offering customers the flexibility, quality and selection they need whether interested in short-term or long-term rentals.
