The UK subsidiary of international offshore service company, Oceanteam, has used a 34 m working height Bronto Skylift MDT34 to inspect a lifting structure on the Norwegian company's barge, CLB Explorer.

A 50 t Mommoet crane, rented from Quigley Crane Hire in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, lifted the 17440 kg Bronto onto the deck of the undersea cable installation barge while it was docked in Liverpool. The access platform, from the Liverpool depot of UK rental company, Facelift, provided access from the deck to the vessel's ‘A' frame, which is the launch and recovery device for its cable burial plough.

Dave Burns, equipment superintendent from Oceanteam, said, "After the ‘A' frame's regular load testing was completed, Facelift's 34 m Bronto was lifted onto the barge. The Bronto then provided the surveyors with access to all areas of the structure which were due for inspection. Its versatile range of movements combined with its height caused a minimum amount of disruption to both crew and deck."
