Finnish manufacturer Bronto Skylift has reported a 17.3% rise in orders compared to the same quarter last year. The company's backlog order book is now worth $181.7 million which is 58% higher than the same time last year.
The orders for Bronto's Truck mounted, articulated aerial platforms increased principally due to the strong Euro, although demand in Europe has weakened from 2007 orders from other international locations have risen.
Net sales for the second quarter rose 38% to $43 million bringing first half year revenues to $66.8 million up more than 30% on the same period last year. Operating income also increased by 19% to $4.3 million due to the higher sales revenue.
Bronto is currently in the process of a 40% capacity expansion which will come on line in the third quarter to help meet the increased demand..
