Fixator replaces mercury with electronics on hoist's safety device.

Fixator, a French manufacturer of hoists and suspended platforms has integrated an electronic module into all its electrical cabinets for suspended scaffold hoists.

The electrical control boxes manufactured before 1st November 2009 contained mercury bulbs to ensure anti-sway and stop the hoists should the suspended platforms tilt. Now a computer programmed electronic board carries out this function and improves the functional features of electrical cabinets of hoists.

The electronic module will shut down the power supply of the leading hoist as soon as the tilt exceeds 6° and shuts down the power supply of both hoists as soon as the tilt exceeds 10°. New features are the shutting down of the power supply of both hoists in case the inversion of the platform exceeds 20°; eliminating power shut downs caused by stray movements and no disturbance of the anti-sway system in case of an impact to the cabinet.

The electronic module can also be retrofitted to existing: replacement of the module is carried out in the Fixator workshop and the mercury bulbs are sent to a specialised recycling company.
