Football focus for JLG donation

By Euan Youdale13 June 2016

JLG has partnered with international NGO streetfootballworld to bring 84 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to the UEFA European Championship 2016.

JLG’s donation of two private boxes at the Paris’ Stade de France for each of the seven European championship matches that take place in Paris — including the opening and final games — benefits young people who already participate in football-based programmes designed to help them overcome challenges, such as unemployment and social integration.

The programmes are run by streetfootballworld network member organisations Sport dans la Ville (France), Sport against Racism (Ireland) and Rheinflanke (Germany) who selected the young attendees based on their exceptional engagement within their initiatives.

JLG Industries general manager for EMEA, Karel Huijser, said, “As we evaluated organizations that are particularly concerned with the welfare and emergency relief of children, as well as the European championships around the corner, streetfootballworld became our programme of choice. We are pleased to continue our journey started on the ´Future within Reach´ at bauma by giving this opportunity to what we truly see as the future – young people.”

Streetfootballworld CEO Jürgen Griesbeck added, “streetfootballworld believes that football’s true stars are the millions of young people around the world who turn to football as a way to overcome the challenges they face in life. We’re thrilled to receive this generous gift from JLG to give nearly a hundred young people a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will continue to motivate them for years to come.”
