Two Geda 500 Z/ZP transport platforms are being used to help build a Eurocopter production plant in Donauwörth, in the German state of Bavaria.

The four-storey, 30,000 square-metre Eurocopter Development Centre consists of four wings, measuring a total 126.5 m in length, 97.5 m wide and 22 m high. According to Geda it will be the biggest building in the northern part of Swabia.

Munich-based contractor Fischbacher has rented the pair of Geda 500 Z/ZPs for the job. The model combines two devices; a materials hoist and a transport platform for workers and loads.

It can carry up to 2,000 kg, but the Eurocopter project is using the 1.45 x 3.30 m B-Platform version, with a load capacity of 1,500 kg. The two-mast system is guided along two steel masts up to 100 m high. It has a maximum hoisting speed of 12 m/min when carrying people, and 24 m/min for materials only.

The Geda 1500 Z/ZPs will be on site until the building is completed in March 2013. Eurocopter is Europe's biggest helicopter manufacturer.
