Geda supports Brünn University refurbishment

29 April 2014

Three Geda MCP 1500 mast climber platforms are being put to use on the refurbishment of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty at Brünn Technical University.

The 72 m high university building, which boasts a skeleton façade created from concrete and glass, set new architectural benchmarks when in opened in the 1970s.

However, today, the once modern architecture is showing signs of wear and also needs to be brought into the 21st century to comply with energy efficiency standards.

Work is now being carried out to renovate the foundations and the 72 m high concrete columns. After the refurbishment of the concrete columns and the replacement of the glass elements, photovoltaic modules are being installed on one side of the building.

The contractor decided to go for three Geda MCP 1500s instead of a scaffolding system because of its ease of use and simple assembly/disassembly.

The Geda MCP 1500 is guided on two masts and offers a hoisting speed of 9 m/min to transport maximum loads of 1500 kg up to heights of 100 m. The platforms can be positioned anywhere along the façade and provides a power supply point for work with a drilling machine or other electric tools.

The renovation works are scheduled for completion by the end of 2014.
