The judges' meeting to decide the shortlist for the International Awards for Powered Access (IAPA) 2013 is taking place today in Amsterdam.

An impressive 86 entries were received ahead of the event, which is being held in Miami, Florida on 26 March 2013 – the same day as the IPAF Summit.

The judging panel is gathering at the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel and Conference Centre. The five judges are: Ebbe Christensen, president of Reachmaster; Stefan Kulawik, managing director of Palfinger Platforms; Wayne Lawson, IPAF president; Enrica Pege, director of Venpa; and Ken Pustizzi, chief executive officer of Trico Lift. Chairman of the judges meeting is AI editor Euan Youdale.

The shortlisted entries will be published following the meeting, so keep an eye out on ww.KHL.com.

This year’s IAPA awards will for the second time include an Access Photograph of the Year competition, again generously sponsored by UK rental company Facelift Hire. A prize of €1000 will go the best picture sent to us by the deadline of Friday 1 February, 2013.

The IAPAs is a gala dinner and awards ceremony which will take place at the Hilton Miami Downtown Hotel. They celebrate best practice and excellence in the powered access industry. The IPAF Summit will be a full day of plenary conference and seminars. The day will start at 9:00am with the IPAF Annual General Meeting (AGM) for IPAF members only. This will be followed by breakout seminars that all delegates can attend, covering topics related to AWPs and mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs), ranging from inspections and maintenance, to accident reporting and safety training.
