Van and truck mounted access platform manufacturer Aldercote has developed an operator interface screen to monitor and control the platform.

The UK company has designed the system so that only approved operators can use the platform. Stabiliser deployment, traditionally done via cab control, is now done via the console, which will alert the operator if any safety interlocks are not activated and are preventing the platform from working.

The system will show up any electrical problems helping service engineers locate the fault quickly and data can be downloaded to a laptop providing information on how long the platform has been working, what problems there have been and identifying the operators who have used it.

If requested Aldercote can configure the system to automatically stow the booms from a set height or position.

The picture shows the interface system fitted to a 16.5m platform on an Iveco 65C but the unit is available on any model in Aldercote's range of platforms.
