Pecolifts are playing their part in the UK£80 million refurbishment of Reading town train station in the UK.

To date, about 25 low level access Pecolift units, rented out by Nationwide Platforms, have been deployed for daily use at the site. The platform can elevate to working heights of 3.5 m by the operator turning an intuitive handle.

With no electricity or fuel required to provide power, the user can access comparative heights up to 10 times more quickly than podium steps, added a Nationwide spokesman.

On the Reading station site, the low level access platform has been used by electrical engineers when carrying out wiring, installation and testing tasks throughout the redevelopment. With a push-around design and no battery or fuel depletion, the platform can be moved around site as required.

Richard Miller, Nationwide Platforms executive director – sales, said, “The work at Reading station is a clear demonstration of the immediate, positive impact this product can have on working at height.

“With no erection or dismantling required, Pecolift provides a safe and enclosed platform for working at height which truly puts its user in control. Additionally, no fuel or battery requirements help give the operator extra peace of mind, as well as knowledge that the unit can keep working as long as they can.”
