Merlo adds Cingo access attachment and plans more on access

By Murray Pollok29 October 2009

Merlo has added a 9 m working height aerial platform attachment for its tracked Cingo tool carrier.

Several years ago the telehandler manufacturer showed a 4 m aerial platform Cingo attachment, but a company spokesman said the new Cingo Platform PL9.4 was a much more versatile model, with 4 m outreach as well as its much higher working height.

The platform attachment can be lowered from the unit's own diesel or petrol engine, or used inside a building when connected with a mains power supply. The unit has manually levelled outriggers and a stablity sensor that ensures the machine is level and stable before use. The attachment takes 10 minutes to attach to the Cingo, said the Merlo spokesman.

Meanwhile, Merlo said it is continuing to investigate ways of using its telehandler expertise in the aerial platform market. The company has already launched the MPR 20, 25 and 30 models - using an articulated boom mounted on a telehandler-type carrier - and is now developing a new concept, multi-use machine that will combine the attributes of a telehandler and aerial platform.

The Merlo spokesman told AI that the company hoped that it would have the new product ready to show at Bauma ext year, although the company is not commited to having it at the show.
