Mills supplied a mast climbing solution to Santander Theatre in Marginal Pinheiros, part of the Vila Olimpia district of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The rising use of this type of equipment in Brazil, says Mills, is a result of increased requirements for technologies that reduce the risk of accidents and working time.

Mills’ equipment is helping in the construction of the theatre and its façade. The challenge was to carry out the work without fixing the equipment to the façade. The solution was to use a rack and pinion platform.

The platform is 23.8 m in length and was installed with the masts on the ground and the outer wall. To assist the workers a platform extension was attached, allowing them to work closer to the façade.

The platform has a high load bearing capacity, about 4,000 pounds weight distributing across the whole platform, or 2,000 pounds per mast.

The job requires high productivity and that all material for the working day is placed on the platform at one time, meaning workers do not have to return to ground level several times a day or rent additional equipment.

The platform has an electromagnetic sensor on the mast, overhead and levelling sensors and gear motors with centrifugal brakes, bringing maximum security to the operation, said the company.
