PASMA, the Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association, in the UK has published pocket guides to make on-site inspection of mobile access towers easier and more effective.

Designed in collaboration with the UK's Health and Safety Executive, the 9 cm by 15 cm cards offer "simple, straightforward advice to users ‘from the ground upwards". The same guidance is also available on two A2-sized posters.

Nine inspection steps lead from consideration of environmental factors and ground conditions to the safe use of mobile tower features and components. The card's reverse side describes inspection, reporting, and action requirements of the UK Work at Height Regulations for mobile towers. The descriptions include ‘competent person' inspection and reporting.

PASMA managing director Peter Bennett said, "The PocketCards and posters join the PASMA Code of Practice, DVDs and tower inspection record as invaluable aids to the safe and productive use of mobile access towers on site."

PASMA sells the cards and posters at its on-line shop at: www.pasma.co.uk.
