Oil&Steel used the SAIE show to introduce a ‘rental version' of its popular Snake 2010 Compact platform. The new model has been developed with the cooperation of Italian rental company Cofiloc.

Changes to the rental version include the use of traditional A-type outriggers rather than the ‘Gecko' type used on the original version; a 3.4 m wheelbase rather than 2,9 m, which means that the lift does not need the anti-collision system to prevent the boom hitting the cab; and ground level controls in the boom turret rather than on the truck, simplifying the design.

"It has been simplified to the minimum, for cold rental", said Andrea Certa, Oil&Steel's chief executive officer. "Cofiloc had an important input. We followed their concept."

The lift is still extremely compact, measuring 2.5 m high when stowed and around 6.0 long, which is little more than 0.5 m longer than the original model.
