Palazzani takes off in India

24 February 2014

Five Palazzani track mounted platforms are being used at Mumbai International Airport (MIAL).

They include three 25 m TSJ 25/C ECO and two 27 m TSJ 27/C lifts.

MIAL, previously named Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), has five operating terminals spread over 610 ha and is the busiest airport in India.

The consortium Mumbai International Airport Ltd. was appointed to carry out the modernisation of the airport in February 2006. The project was to be completed by the end of 2013, but has been delayed by a year to the end of 2014.

Once completed, MIAL will be capable of handling 40 million passengers and 1 million metric tonnes of cargo annually. The construction of a dedicated six lane, elevated road connecting the new terminal with the main Western Express Highway is underway.
