The GIS specialist lifting show held in Piacenza, Italy - 27 to 29 May - saw the return of RAM Platforms to the market.

The Italian truck mount company, which retired from the market in the 1980s is making a come back, headed up once again by Walter Aldini.

When asked why he had chosen to re-enter the market Mr Aldini said, "We are passionate about the truck mount business and have 40 years experience. The product has a good reputation and we had many requests from customers for machines. The challenge is to come back with a good product, easy to use, reliable and very safe."

It was for these reasons that RAM has chosen to work with MCM an Italian specialist in producing booms and the same family team behind the Bluelift spider company.

The first machines on show alongside the Bluelift products were Gemini and Mira. Gemini is a compact 21m working height machine with an articulated double pantograph style boom, with a 11m outreach and 200kg basket capacity. Mira is a similar machine with a telescopic boom. Both machines have automatic telescopic outriggers and are very compact.
