New York rental company Atlantic Hoisting & Scaffolding will supply 12 Raxtar construction hoists built in the Netherlands for use on the construction of the 420 m high ‘Freedom Tower' on the site of Ground Zero in Manhattan.

The hoists are being supplied to Atlantic by Hydro-Mobile, Raxtar's sales partner for North America. The 3200 kg capacity hoists will comprise six dual-cage units with maximum travel speeds of 92 m/min and with cage dimensions 1.52 m (W) by 4.4 m (L) by 2.6 m (H).

The hoists will not run continuously up the building, but will be staggered according to the design of the tower. Atlantic has bought the hoists for the project, which is scheduled to start early in 2009.

Meanwhile, Raxtar has won a €6 million order to supply 200 material hoists to Netherlands contractor BAM. The 500 kg capacity RX500B hoists are equipped with remote monitoring technology, automatic lubrication, bluetooth communication and touch panel controls. Raxtar will start delivering the hoists in the final quarter of this year.
