German rental company Rentem has expanded its equipment fleet with the addition of 53 electric slab scissor lifts from Snorkel.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered to the north of Munich in Nuremberg, Rentem operates a 15,000 unit fleet of general and specialty construction equipment from 23 branches spread across the country.

Its new Snorkel machines were ordered in August of last year through Ahern Deutschland, and include Snorkel’s S3215E, S3219E, S3226E, S4726E and S4732E models.

The company also added an undisclosed number of Snorkel’s latest electric model, the S4740E scissor lift.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, the model features a hydraulic and electric drive, a roll-out deck extension with dual locks and has a maximum working height of 14m.

All of Rentem’s new scissor lifts feature a custom-painted livery in the firm’s lime green brand colours and are equipped with a Trackunit telematics system.

Speaking of the company’s decision to invest in the Snorkel machines, Jona Meier, joint managing director at Rentem, said, “By investing in sustainably designed products, we will need significantly less effort with maintenance and repairs, from which our customers will of course also benefit greatly.”

Since adding its first Snorkel machines to its fleet in 2020, Rentem has placed a number of orders for more than 80 of the manufacturer’s lifts, with 66 units purchased in 2021 alone.

According to equipment provider Ahern Deutschland, part of the US-based Ahern Family of Companies which owns Snorkel, the relationship between the two companies was “further strengthened” thanks to an in-person meeting between Rentem’s managing directors and Don Ahern, the owner of the Ahern Family of Companies owner, and Snorkel CEO, Matthew Elvin.

The company leaders met during CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Meier, said, “We were looking for a new supplier who - like us - focuses on the customer. We were quickly impressed by the experience that Don Ahern brings to product design through his vast knowledge of the rental sector, and are confident that this design concept will accelerate our growth enormously.”
