Ruthmann has launched a new electric Steiger truck mount model, that comprises an Ampero TBR 260E aerial platform on the eDaily chassis from Iveco.

The 100% electric Steiger Ampero TBR 260E is part of the company’s new E-Steiger Generation of machines and is described as its highest performing electric model.

Offering a 150-km travel range, its eDaily chassis is available in 5.5 and 7.2-tonne versions.

The 26m working height and 17m outreach Ampero platform means the unit is suited to applications is residential and pedestrian areas, as well as noise-sensitive and low-emission zones.

Based on the current Steiger TBR 260 HV5 model, the new Steiger Ampero is powered by a central 74kW battery installed in the Iveco eDaily chassis.

“The battery is charged by using a customary standard charging cable connected to the charging port in the radiator grille of the IVECO eDaily,” said Ruthmann.

“It takes one hour to fully charge the battery via continuous current at 80kW and four hours via alternating current at 22kW.

As well as a travel range of 150km, a single charge of the battery allows for up to 30 work cycles of the Ampero aerial platform. Although the standard model is fitted with a 250kg-capacity basket, a basket with a maximum load capacity of 300kg is also available as an optional extra.

According to Ruthmann, the vehicle also has other advantages. It incorporates “fewer moving parts such as the alternator and gear box, which extends the model’s service life, and its “almost noiseless drive opens up new fields of application in noise-sensitive areas”.
