Short shut down secures Snorkel's future

07 October 2008

Snorkel has announced that it will have a one week shut down at its US manufacturing facility in Elwood Kansas in order to bring production capacity in line with the revised market levels.

Snorkel said that customers will not be affected - both the customer care team and the sales force will be fully operational throughout the period.

A spokesman for Snorkel said, "The aerial work platform industry continues to face some significant challenges, including the chaotic financial markets, a significant downturn in the construction sector, combined with uncertainty caused by the US election process. These factors are impacting at a time coinciding with the quietest season in the US AWP calendar.

"We are therefore taking appropriate action now, to proactively safeguard our business in the face of these adverse conditions - whilst ensuring we maintain the capacity, capability and skills to deliver the future success of Snorkel International in the years to come."
