Summit to focus on Work at Height Regulations

01 May 2008

The UK's new Work at Height Regulations (WAHR), which come into force on 6 April, will be a major theme of the IPAF Summit.

The IPAF Summit is being held on Monday 16 May at Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire, just 30 minutes from the SED show that starts the following day.

The Summit is free and it is not just for IPAF members. Anyone with an interest in powered access or concerns about working at height is invited to attend, free of charge.

The full impact of the WAHR will be spelled out at the IPAF Summit by Chris Gallagher, a field inspector with HSE Safety Unit. He will address the issues of ladders, lifting personnel with crane baskets, risk assessments and other practical implications.

The business opportunities for rental companies will be explored at the Summit by industry commentator Leigh Sparrow, former IPAF president and former senior vice president of Upright International. John Robertson, an independent consultant with Time Consultancy, specialising in the field of roped access, will explain how his clients are preparing for the new regulations and he will share the advice that he is offering them.

The Summit starts at 2pm and closes at 6pm. It is followed by a champagne reception, free to all attendees, and a dinner, for which tickets are available. A free shuttle bus service to and from the SED show in Milton Keynes is being laid on by the SED organisers on Tuesday 17 May. Anyone wishing to attend should register by phoning IPAF on +44 (0)1539 562 444 or emailing info@ipaf.org
