Sunbelt acquires Chicago access specialist

Sunbelt Rentals has acquired aerial platform specialist rental company Lift Works, which oparates in the Chicago area.

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in St. Charles, Illinois, with an additional facility in Rockford, Illinois, US-based Lift Works provides rental, sales, aftermarket services and parts rental to the Chicago metropolitan and broader Midwest area, comprising more than 1,000 small and mid-sized contractors.

Following the acquisition Lift Works’ senior management team will continue to lead the company.

This latest deal comes off the back of a string of acquisitions by Sunbelt Rentals, part of the Ashtead Group, over the last 12 months.

Concerning the acquisition, which became official on 12 January, Lift Works’ owner Marty Starck, said, “We are excited to pursue Lift Works’ next phase of growth with Sunbelt as our partner.

“They bring meaningful resources and equipment rental experience to the table that will help Lift Works better serve its customers going forward.”

The deal increases Sunbelt’s footprint in the Chicago market while preserving Lift Works’ employee base and company culture that has been cultivated over its 19-year history.

Starck added, “In contemplating this transaction, my goal was to find the best new partner to provide Lift Works with the experience and capital necessary to continue its strong trajectory of growth, while supporting the existing management team and employee base with personal and professional growth opportunities.
