Sunbelt acquires rental division of ECM Energy Services

11 September 2014

US-based rental company Sunbelt has acquired the equipment rental division and employees of ECM Energy Services, a company focussed on natural gas and oil field equipment rentals, water logistics and pilot car services.

ECM CEO Kevin Groman said the integration was expected to be smooth. "Sunbelt is the second largest equipment rental company in the US, and with its oil and gas services division, it has positioned itself, like ECM, to provide unmatched customer service to the oil and gas sector.

“In addition, I am excited that this acquisition will enable our customers to grow more rapidly through Sunbelt's existing footprint, fleet and access to capital," he said.

The all-cash transaction is expected to close in September.

Sunbelt is owned by UK-based Ashtead Group, which is also the parent company of UK rental firm A-plant. A spokesperson from Ashtead said, “The company is committed to a growth strategy focussed on organic growth, greenfield openings and bolt-on acquisitions in specialty areas.”
