A Worldlift Industries, Spider FS290 has given a specialist cleaning contractor, access to the huge and valuable West Screen at Coventry Cathedral, UK.

UK based, Universal Aerial Platforms, has worked with Coventry Cathedral to help clean its famous West Screen. Universal provided a Spider FS290, manufactured by Worldlift Industries, Denmark, which gave Advance Cleaning Services, the specialist contractor, access to all of the huge artwork.

The impressive screen was created by New Zealand artist John Hutton in the late 1950's. It took ten years to complete and consists of 90 glass plates each measuring 8ft by 3ft, 66 of which depict hand tooled etchings of saints and angels all suspended in a bronze frame from the cathedral's roof.

Advance Cleaning Services knows the Spider is a safe means of accessing difficult commissions. The machine can be used in situations where careful handling and positioning are required; the electrically powered FS290 weighs 3750kg and has a stowed width of just 0.8m.
