Youngman moves into powered access with mini scissor

The Youngman Group, a UK manufacturer of access towers, ladders and step ladders has introduced its first powered access product.

The BoSS X3 is a compact, push-around battery powered scissor designed to be rugged enough to withstand the rigours of the rental market.

A high capacity motor and ram lift the 0.56 m by 1.05 m work platform to a maximum height of 2.55 m - providing a working height of up to 4.55 m - in12 seconds. Descent from maximum height also takes 12 seconds and the heavy-duty 12V DC/100AH battery allows 225 full range ascents and descents on one charge. Key serviceable components such as the motor, pump and battery are housed in a pull-out drawer within the base.

Features include an easy-to-operate handset control with up, down and emergency stop buttons; a platform overload valve to prevent the machine operating above its maximum safe capacity and an audible alarm to indicate when the platform is descending.

In addition, a safety cut-out automatically pauses platform descent at 1.85 m height to prevent injury to anyone who may be working beneath it. Having checked that no one is at risk, the operator can then complete the descent.

Youngman says that the BoSS X3's design requires no additional stabilisers: a tilt switch activates an alarm and prevents ascent if chassis inclination exceeds 1.5 degrees.
