Lavendon CEO Kevin Appleton will be charge at Zooom Germany for at least the next six months

Mr Appleton said: “Fred has left the company to pursue other opportunities by mutual agreement, and I expect to be running our German operation for a minimum of six months. Zooom needs to be reoriented in line with market conditions and working methods need to be improved if the business is to be a success.” According to Mr Appleton, Mr departure was not connected to the restructuring of the company through the closure of 24 depots and a fleet reduction of 1200 machines as reported in the last issue of AI.

Mr Appleton told AI that his aim is to ensure that Zooom financial operations are in line with expectations, a efficient structure is in place to report on business by development strategies, a stable the staff position is achieved and the right management team is in place before he hands over to a successor.

“I know what we want to achieve with Zooom Germany and how to carry it through. It makes more sense for me to achieve this and then hand over, rather than brief a newcomer who would then have to get to grips with the business while at the same time putting everything we want in place.” “If we are to find a replacement within the next year, then whoever is recruited is likely to come from outside the company. But it will have to be the right person. I am prepared to run Zooom Germany for as long as is required to ensure we get the right Wadhurst office person”, Mr Appleton told.
