Niftylifts light up for Christmas

Aerial platform manufacturer Niftylift has created a 30-metre-tall ‘Christmas tree’ out of articulating platforms at its UK headquarters in Milton Keynes. 

Displayed outside the company’s Shenley Wood headquarters, the structure comprises three Niftylift HeightRider 28 (HR28) Hybrid work platforms and a custom-made star at its peak, which are wrapped in 17,100 LED lights.

While the entire display incorporates almost 2km of LED cable, it only uses about 5.5 amps of power at its full brightness.

“The Nifty Christmas Tree is one of the tallest structures in Milton Keynes and with Shenley Wood being one of its highest natural locations, can be seen from sites all around the city,” said Niftylift.

While each of the HR28 platforms was fitted with 3,200 LED lights, which took Niftylift’s team a total of 8 hours to install per machine, the standout feature of the display was its star.

The company said, “For many families, the star that sits atop the tree is the most important decoration of all and this year Niftylift has taken its star to the next level with a full-spectrum RGB colour changing spectacular.”

The custom-made star at the top of Niftylift’s ‘tree’ features 7,500 LED lights that can display any colour combination and a range of changing light patterns, via the use of a computer control system.

It was designed by Niftylift and, according to the manufacturer, is the UK’s first full-colour 3D star with 14 points.

“Each individual LED on the star is mapped in 3D space and can be controlled independently and this is how it can produce its different patterns and in virtually any colour in the visible spectrum,” said Niftylift.

The company has erected a special ‘Christmas tree’ at its UK headquarters every year since 2016, as a way of giving something unique to its local community.
